Most of those other players are music format only though, even the ones with
harddrives.  They only support music files..  The iPod that I have, the newer
one (I can't speak for the older one since I don't own one), can be used as a
40GB USB Harddrive that fits in your pocket..  Very handy for dumping MAME roms
or other rom dumps to take over to your friends house..  As long as they have a
USB port, their computer sees the iPod as a harddrive.  That is worth the money
that they charge for the iPod, for me anyway.

Plus I rarely download anything from iTunes..  I mostly just dumped all my MP3s
I had on it and converted all my CDs to MP3.
