Was the disc in UDF format (drag and drop)? The disc info in Nero should
show the format.

Do you have any UDF programs loaded that is running in the background this
may conflict with Nero.  The disc may have gone bad.

On a CDRW if you finalise a disc it should not stop you from erasing the disc.

I would not trust a CDRW for long term storage.
