        My "guess" is that anytime the modem has MNP error correction
        and a compression mode, it assumes its is MNP5 (faulty
        display code logic...I'll forward it on).

Although Patrick said he would forward it on and I've no reason to  
disbelieve what he said, the "MNP5 LED" flaw is *still* present in the
current -26beta ROM code. OK, so it's only cosmetic but it's been there for  
something like TWO YEARS!
