Hi Jason (of 1:229/658),

I wouldn't say "no way". As long as cooperation among equipment
manufacturers continues to blossom, digital rights management (DRM) might
soon become the norm.

DRM might not affect existing owners for current CD-players and regular
CDs, but as more and more DRM gets implemented into electronic products
(and CDs), it can begin to look like the "no way to enforce it"
and "for years to come" will be proven wrong.

Don't misunderstand me.. I don't necessarily like the DRM trend either.
Personally, I like being able to secure MP3's from the net (and I even
tolerate the lower quality fo 128-bit and 192-bit versions) because my use
only extends into more like a portable radio of tunes that I want to hear
when I want for my own use. And, I wouldn't build a long-term music
collection based on low-qual mp3 files.

As long as people will be able "listen" to music, I am sure that
there will always be a way to capture the sound data via analog methods
onto another medium for copy and distribution. But let's face it, getting
around the proposed DRM protections might start getting more tedious than
it will be worth. And, when that happens, I believe that more and more
people will just start looking after themselves and not bother implementing
free "original pure digital" copies for sharing.
