-> Why does every one but me hate nintendo.
ST>
ST> It is not "hating Nintendo" as much as it is hating their
ST> decision to stick with a media (carts) that is both the most limiting
ST> and the most expensive - targetted at an audience (children) which can
ST> least afford it. Add all of this together; expensive games, limited in
ST> size, and targetted for children, it's easy to see why a lot of loyal
ST> gamers have really been left out of Nintendo's "equation for success".
Nintendo is obviously run by Microsoft employees. "Build big, promote big,
sell at a big price". I'm surprised the two companies don't merge anytime
soon. :)
Hey, theres an idea: "Donkey Kong Windows". Or "Super Mario Excel". Have
ario
bounce up and down on your deleted files. Have Bowser shoot fireballs at your
system viruses. Or hey, maybe a Mario Kart that skids on your fiscal budget?
ST> No one doubts that it is a great system. It's just too bad that
ST> Nintendo is either too stubborn or too stupid to really open up the
ST> potential of their game system, and like Sega, are pretty much killing
ST> themselves.
Nintendo *IS* good. But I guarrenty you that the N64 will be collecting dust
when we get into the new mellenium of CPU's.
I think if Sony was smart, the next Playstation (if any) that comes out
hould
be completely modular, as far as motherboard, memory, CD and the like is. (It
would look more like a PC!). One thing that caught my attention was the
expanded memory module.
ST> Another point is that just because a lot of people don't agree
ST> that "the N64 is the best" doesn't automatically mean that we hate it.
ST> We're just not blind to it's glaring flaws - and the realization that
ST> Nintendo really dropped the ball and could have done a LOT better.
I remember when the NES first came out. Every kid on my block had it but me.
My mom bought me the Atari 2600 with about 50 or 60 games. I had more fun
ith
that thing than I did with NES and even SNES. I still play Atari every now
nd
then, but lately I've been captivated by FF7...(sorry couldn't resist!) :)
Nick.
