| subject: | FM Capture Card |
I was interested in doing some video capturing, so I bought a PCI card for my computer and installed. One of the "extras" that came with it was the ability to receive FM radio broadcasts. I'm having trouble receiving some of my local FM stations. Anyone had any experience with this? I know which stations I should be able to get, and I can only get some of them. Others I cannot pick up at all. My first thought was to get a better antenna. The FM antenna that came with it has a 1/8-inch stereo headphone plug attached to a length of "speaker wire" that's about 4 feet long. About halway down its length it splits apart, forming a "T" shape. I'm used to seeing an FM antenna of this type consist of 300-ohm antenna wire that forms a complete loop! Also, curious as to why a stereo plug was used instead of a mono, I took it apart. Indeed, it uses only two of the three connections, so a mono plug would work just as well. Anyways, I'm thinking about getting or making a proper antenna. The thing is, though, it seems as though there is something else going on. Why can I get only some stations? It seems that if I can get some of them, I should be able to get them all. ---* Origin: Big Bang (1:106/2000.7) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 106/2000 633/267 |
