What is crosspoint? Here's an extract from my CrossPoint Page at http://www.bitzbox.org ---------- 8< ---------- CrossPoint is a text-based 'Universal' Point program available for DOS, Windows, Linux and FreeBSD. It is universal in the sense that it supports many different mail networks including FidoNet and several German-specific networks which include Z-Netz and MausNet. With the exception of the DOS version, the 32bit versions also have built-in support for POP3, SMTP, NNTP and Fido-over-IP but the 16bit versions do not. The 16bit versions do, however, have built-in support for third-party mail/news clients making it easy to 'bolt-on' POP3, SMTP and NNTP. A third-party Fido-over-IP add-on is also available which eases the implementation of BinkD. At this time, there are 3 distinct 'flavours' of CrossPoint publicly available: - FreeXP (DOS 16-bit) - currently in development and stands at v3.40.RC3 (http://www.freexp.co.uk) - OpenXP (DOS, Windows, Linux, FreeBSD 32-bit) - current development is questionable but the current version stands at v3.8.15-91 beta (http://www.openxp.com) - XP2 (DOS 16-bit) - currently not being developed and stands at v3.30.pre7 (http://xp2.doskey.de) All versions of CrossPoint are based on Peter Mandrella's CrossPoint v3.20 and although he never released that particular version, he did release the Pascal source code in late December 1999. ---------- 8< ---------- Hope that answers your question :-) Regards, Martin --- CrossPoint/FreeXP v3.40 RC3 R* Origin: Bitz-Box - Bradford - UK (2:250/501.2) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 250/501 140/1 106/2000 633/267 |
