I teach at a Catholic school. Catholic schools always have their Easter
Vacation after Easter, not before. (Well, it usually starts on Good
Friday.) I've always recalled the public schools having it the preceding
week (since I was a child it has always been this way...we're talking
early sixties here).
For the first time ever, my two children who attend public school will
have the same week off as I do (nice). I was curious...is this a trend?
When do other schools (public) schedule their "spring break"?
I was talking to my department head earlier this week. His wife is an
elementary school principal. He says their schools are also off the week
after Easter. He said that her school has coordinated with the high
school, and they've scheduled their spring breaks for the 2nd week of
April for the next 4 or 5 years, regardless of whether this coincides
with Easter weekend or not. Any other public schools out their taking
this tack?
