| subject: | Re: new beta Version OpenXP (3.8.13) |
In FIDO.XPOINT on 21.10.03 (received 21.10.03)
Martin Foster uttered
on the subject "new beta Version OpenXP (3.8.13)":
MF>>> Instead of the normal "tick" mark that we're
accustomed to, the
MF>>> Windows version indicates that the archiver(s) have been found by
MF>>> a "?" at the right-hand side.
Special characters under DOS... a never ending story...
MF> I've just d/loaded and installed the 3.8.14-19 (DOS32) snapshot
MF> and I can confirm that there are no "ticks" or
"?" here either,
MF> which indicates to me that, even though all my archivers are on my
MF> path, OpenXP doesn't see them.
Ooops. :-(
AS>> And - when I attempted to use the Archive Viewer to look into
AS>> known decent .ZIPs etc., I got loads of error messages suggesting
AS>> that the archives were faulty :(
MF> Same here.
Looks like the archivers can't be called which isn't too surprising if
they are not found in the first place, see above.
One thought: do those archivers actually work under plain DOS? Or only
when Windows is active?
MF> I've noticed something else as well .....
MF> Whilst using OpenXP's built-in HDD navigation tool, my drive
MF> letters are not listed in the correct order. They are listed thus:
MF> B: C: D: F: G: H: J: E: A: I:
Looks confusing but not really like a critical error.
MF> Sorry but that doesn't happen here with the current snapshot,
MF> language switching now works as it should.
At least one thing fixed ...
I've forwarded your bug reports; but to be sure, please neter them into
the SourceForge bug tracker as well. Thanks.
