SK> Here's one I thought the readership of this echo might find interesting.
SK> I just heard about it on the radio this week, but apparently it was
SK> reported in the local papers. I found a short synopsis of it on the
SK> Orange County Register's website at www.ocregister.com.
SK> San Juan Capistrano, California: The school district has decided not to
SK> take any screaming, etc.. of parents. A new policy requires that parents
SK> remain civil during conversations with all school district personel,
SK> including teachers, administrators, janitors, etc...
SK> Parents who shout and become uncivil will be asked to leave campus. If
SK> they do not comply, the police will be called and they will be charged
SK> with a misdemeanor.
Reminds me of the segment I saw on the TV news the other night. Several kids
were in court with their parents on some sort of disorderly conduct type
charges (don't recall what exactly). The adult relatives didn't like the
sentence the judge handed down (fines and community service?) or the way he
talked to the kids, so they started to dismantle the courtroom and bailiffs.
It took additional police and bailiffs to quell the disturbance. My knee jerk
reaction to the piece (which also applies to the one quoted above) was "Gee,
I know exactly where the kids learned the behaviour that got them INTO court
in the first place".
