I wasn't very clear, perhaps... They are not required to
attend the workplace on those days.

We build 3 days into the calendar that do not require makeup

I believe that response comes from a perspective based in past
patterns. An inservice doesn't require flying in outside
talent (anyone from 50 miles away can be booked as an expert)
to make it meaningful. Long term school projects could gain
some impetus in making use of these suddenly available
group/team time opportunities. Creative administrators could
easily develop legitimate use of the time.

For the PR aspects, if nothing else. Also, it's terrible time for
professionals to waste when they are left so short of it during
the active times of the school year.
