Hi Chris!
-> My contributions have been fewer and farther between in the last two
-> years as I am now a teaching principal in a remote rural school and
-> have channelled most of my energies into the job.
Isn't that the truth! I seem to be in the same sort of situation myself
(more and more time into the job), plus the new addition to our family
(now 8 months old) requires a great amount of time, as well.
-> My BBS is still running but with the decline in K12 I have been
-> considering accessing the I/net usegroups. I have recently managed
-> to get an ISP to give me an account at an affordable price and will
-> be looking into this in the coming weeks
I've been out of the loop with the FidoNet side of K12Net for almost a
year now? (Since Janet Murray left) I read a select few on the Usenet,
but you do understand that they are different groups, and not the same
as what you would see on the FidoNet side?
With one happy exception: k12.ed.math has recently been gated, so that
now the Usenet and FidoNet sides are the same and messages pass back and
forth between the two sides.
I am the moderator of k12.ed.math/K12_Math_Ed and I moderate from the
Usenet side. We gated k12.ed.math first as an experiment, to see how it
would work. I believe that we will be gating other groups/echos in the
not too distant future. I know that we need volunteers to moderate. Some
of the logical next tries would be to moderate k12.chat.teacher or
k12.ed.science. You wouldn't by any chance be interested?
Some of my experiences with this whole k12.ed.math thing are what gives
me the idea that I will be able to offer access to this discussion forum
through a moderated mailing list on the Internet. I think that would
help to pick up traffic here. Things are going a bit slower in that area
than I would like, though. I am learning certain software, for another
purpose, and then I hope it will be of use in this project. I wanted to
maybe start up a list by the end of this week, but it now looks like it
will drag on. Ah well.
