DM> We are talking consoles here! The PSX wasn't at the

JF> But that "magic price" is what companies tend to shoot
JF> for NOW. That's Sega's goal, and I'm sure that Nintendo
JF> and Sony will try to keep it at $200 whenever they release

I thought I read that the Katana, was going to have a DVD
drive? (You said it would be 4x cd drive)
JF> For goodness' sake, it's a portable game machine, not a
JF> small Pentium! Quake consumes considerably more space and
JF> CPU effort than something like Duke 3D, even on a small
JF> black-and-white screen.
JF> As for the originality, I suspect it's because they want
JF> to show off its relatively powerful (compared to other
JF> portables) hardware, and what better way to do so than by
JF> using existing games which one would think off-limits for
JF> such a machine?
I was joking about Quake. I meant it like why not just put
more games on game com that we are getting tired of! Isn't
Mortal Kombat 3 on there? Couldn't they think up a better
name for it too? Game.com|Gameboy? They could have put color
too. That's can't be too expensive now, GameGear did it
almost six years ago.
Who wants a GAMECOM anyway? It's exactly what we don't need.
Sure you can play duke 3d, but duke 3d is also on 64, psx,
Saturn, and PC? Anyone who would buy a GAMEBOY probably
already has one of these.
DM> it's going to end up in the bottom of everyone's closet
DM> along with their virtual boys!
JF> Maybe, but at least it has some merits of its own.
Wasn't there a cutting edge portable 5 years ago, I think it
was called LYNX. It had color and all that. Who bought one?
Better yet, I'll look for it.....in that closet where
consoles go when they die.
