LOL, I have also noticed that.  I visited a couple of Wildcat/WINS boards
over the weekend and see what their web UI looks like.  I have a choice
here.  The one that is currently running looks more like a web forum and
lists messages by threads.  The other one is a little older and lists
messages individually, more like a traditional BBS would.

I have been trying to figure out if there is a way to have both of them
turned out at the same time.  This one is supposed to be more modern but,
even though I have used plenty of web forums, it is not as intuitive for me
as the older interface.
