After almost 10 years of participation in this echo, it's time to shut it
down.  Mort Sternheim started this echo and envisioned it as a way for
young people to have their questions answered by experts.  I took over as
moderator when it became clear to him that the costs associated with
keeping his BBS open outweighed the benefits he envisioned.  What happened?
 The internet made it easier for those young people to find their answers
elsewhere.  Traffic on Fidonet had been waning for some time, along with
the activity on his several BBS.

When I took over as moderator we still had a good level of communication
here, and a good community of folks who enjoyed each other's company.

Over the years, participation has fallen off, and it is now at zero.

If you long for good conversation, try Fidonet's SCIENCE echo.  If you long
for the crazy days where lots of idiots cluttered the echos with noise, try
Usenet's sci.physics.  You can find me hanging out in both those places.
