MC> paid by foreign or domestic tourists. In fact, the US taxes all
MC> tourists MORE in the form of absurd bed taxes and high car rental taxes
MC> at airports.
I'm well aware of that and IF I'd have been told beforehand that NH didn't
have state taxes and ME did I might not have been staying in ME for my
vacation, I'd have rented a cottage to stay in for my vacation in NH. Oh
well I really enjoyed the place I did stay so all was not lost, eh.
MC> I read an article about why car rental taxes are so much
MC> higher at airports than at off airport locations. The reason is that
MC> airport renters. Any are usually out of state residents and cannot get
MC> back at the local politicians at the ballot box. The higher car rental
MC> taxes are simply disguised as "airport surcharges."
From what I've heard about airport car rentals in both Canada and the US
is that car rentals are higher priced to begin with. Nope out of any where
visitors can only get back at the politicians in the ballot box if some idiot
doesn't get back at the same politician/s you do, eh. Something I take a
kind of pleasure in even if the one I didn't cast my ballot for wins and I
hear someone complaining about him/her. I ask him/her if they took the few
minutes to cast a ballot and they say, "no." I grin and say, "Quit your
complaining then, you lost your right to complain when you didn't cast your
ballot, I did and sure didn't vote for whoever and if there weren't so many like
you in the world there might not be anything to complain about."
MC> Our nice customs probably do the same, although I have had only
MC> positive experiences from both customs when I drive across the border
MC> alone. Now, when Cristina, who is from Brazil, was with me, it was
MC> another story. She saw me being persecuted by my own gov't at the
MC> border! -!-
I've seen that happen on both sides of the fence, so what you've just told
me comes as no surprise to me, eh, Nicolae. Maybe one day those nice customs
officials wll be on the opposite end of the stick and find out how it feels
when it happens to them, eh. >;>~~~~~~~~
