  Not that cheap!  Even Sega's Katana system will only have a 4X drive.  
Don't forget that everyone wants a $200 "magic price" in order to sell a 
system, and in order to get those killer graphics, you need to cut costs 
elsewhere.  Besides, if you can get such high-quality video off the PSX's 2X 
drive, why go any farther than that?

  It's for the people that don't want to shell out lots of money for a 
current system (even the PSX can get expensive).  There are plenty of 
existing titles, and they're all VERY inexpensive these days.
