subject: Re: Trackballs for Amiga

Hi Todd,

2 options come to mind quickly, first the Microtrack pall by Silent
Paw (made that Amiga laptop too) is an Amiga trackball that seems kind of
sturdy and Turtle Lightning was selling a product called Mouse it that was
fitted to your standard Amiga serial port and looked like a simple 25 - 9
converter that allowed you to use a PC serial mouse with your Amiga. On
the other hand the newer Amiga mice seem to have a much longer life than
what I refer to as the ECS type mice with the sharp 80's style lines. The
mice that came with the Amiga 600 were also kind of cheap but these last 2
versions seem very robust. Also, a lot of the high speed serial boards
like the Multiface, GVP IO extender, IO Blix, Silver Surfer etc. can have
both the serial and parallel ports emulate pc ports and use standard pc
peripherals. I think the mouse you just got will last a suprisingly long
time. Oh yeah, Joe Torre was selling some Amiga Optical mice at the 2001
Gateway Amiga show in St. Louis (the only one I missed as far as I know)
and bet those thing have a fairly long life and use the stand Amiga mouse
port. Hope this helps.
