I own several Rockwell based modems with both V.FC and V.34 protocols and to 
my 
own surprise I found V.FC to perform considerably better than V.34.
I.e. when connecting to USA BBS's (from the Netherlands) I get 14.4 with V.FC
and 12.0 with V.34.
Locally V.FC also performs far more stable and at higher connect rates with 
a better throughput.
