They're not necessarily stronger (Winston Cup cars have steel rims).
Basically all they're good for is to make your car look nicer.  But,
that is a pretty good deal on a set of wheels, just make sure you check
for cracks and double check your backspacing (might seem strange, but
i've seen cars with different backspacing from front to rear; don't ask
me why, seems odd)  Make sure the bolt pattern is right too while you're
at it.
