You can't directly.  What the modem sees is a severe disruption to the data 
flow and, possibly, a drop in line levels.  It disconnects if it can't 
maintain the connection under those conditions.  You can fiddle with the 
parameters that control carrier loss, like S10, but its not likley to work 
very reliably.
The modem isn't disconnecting because another receiver was lifted.  Its 
disconnecting because it can't maintain the connection.
