Don't see how any comparison can be made since both K56flex and x2 cannot
be offered by an ISP on the same line. My reading of the posts in
comp.dcom.modems is that for some subscriber line impairments x2's better
and for some different lines K56flex is better. Judging by CONNECT speed
alone produces false results.
The real villian tho is a non-integrated SLC -- wiping out any chance of
a 56k-style connect irrespective of which protocol's used
