How can they be with a K56 connection? Your download is at up to 56K and
our
upload at no more than 33.6 ....

Rick. This is not the true line speed. It is showing thge port speed.
Kali
is erractic when you set the Klos dialer to 115K, so it is suggested to set
it
to 57600. That's why it shows the rates at this speed. I figure that it is
pinging your ISP, and not downloading. All I know is that if the 2 rates are
not showing to be equal, and It shows lower than the 5700, or in my case
8200,
the connection is bad, and Kali doesn't work good.
When I had this computer at my brother's house, the rates showed 5400
when
logged in on the best connection. Once I moved it here, and got my phone line
connected, it shows around 8200, and I have better connections. I'm using my
33.6 modem right now until my exchange 56K comes in. I could only achive a
31200 line connection at my brother's, but here I login at a full 33600. The
lines are pretty good.
I talked to Askey, who makes Amjet modems, and they said that the either
my ISP is at fault, or my modem is defective, because if my line was noisy,
it
would fall back to a speed that would allow it to operate normally, which in
my case would be 44K, but it logs in at 46K, and has problems. I think it is
the Uart that is defective. It can't keep up with the 46K data stream, which
is why it freezes every 2 min. for about 15 sec. If you run a 14.4, or higher
baud modem on a Uart that's slower than a 16550, it has the same systoms,
unless it connects below 9600baud.
