Well, I'd say it's DEFINITELY your ISP or your phone lines. That should NOT
happen with a 56k modem. Did this happen with your previous modem? If so,
nd
it happens with local bulletin boards as well, then the problem is likely
our
phone lines. If it ONLY happens with your internet provider, I'd say it's
ime
to complain to Tech Support and/or change internet providers. Based on what
you're saying about it NOT happening on the 33.6 line, I'd say it's
EFINATELY
a problem with your ISP's 56k support.

I found out from Askey (who is the OEM manf.) that there is different
types of 56K support, and that my ISP may not totally be compatable. It
doesn't do it with my 33.6K modem, and if I connect at 44K, or below, it
doesn't do it. I don't know if getting the same kind of modems my ISP uses
would solve the problem, or not. They use Motarolas, but I need a 56K that
works in DOS. That means a modem that is non Windows, and Pentium dependant.
I
don't know of any name brand modems that are made like that. I only see
Generic modems that have these features.
My computer would run a Winmodem easlily, but I play games with KaliDOS
such as Descent 1, Descent 2, WarCraft2, and Duke3D over the Internet. I find
that I get better performance in Real DOS than in Win95, so I don't want to
have to use Win95 only.
Thanks.
