In my previous post, I had explaned about how my new 56K modem would seem
to stop sending, or receiving any data every 2 min. for about 15 sec. when
connected at 46K to my ISP. The modem is an Amjet. J-Mark is the distributor
of these modems, but doing an FCC ID search, I found that Askey is the real
OEM manufacture. I called their 1-800 line and found that they provide the
Tech. support for these modems.
I told the guy what was happening, and he said that it may be an
incompatablility problem with my ISP. He had a thick accent, and from what I
understood, he said that there are different types of 56K Flex firmware. He
told me to try, & call another ISP that supports 56K Flex, and see if it
still
does it. He said that the Askey site has a newer BIOS Flash upgrade than the
one listed on J-Marks website that may help.
As far as calling another ISP, I don't see how I could do this since I
don't have an account with another. I can call the access number, but without
being able to logon, and download, or something, I can't tell if it still
acts
up.
What are the different types of 56K Flex firmware. I thought there was
only 56K Flex, & X2 as of now. He also informed me that upgrading to v.90
would not improve the problem, because all that does is allow me to use an
ISP
that had X2, and also upgraded to v.90.
My ISP uses the Motarola 56K modems. Does anyone know if Askey, and
Motarolas are non-compatable?
