I am well aware of what the presidential release and convention
bullitins in the Monitor have said, as they have also said that
no reservation made through the national toll free number would
be honored. The national toll free number also does not require a
$50.00 deposit for the rooms and maybe that's what the national
does not want us to know about. But I did
not make a reservation using that method. But usually what
happens is that when you make a reservation using the toll free
number it is sent to the individual hotel and it researches to
see if there is a special rate and you usually get it. I believe
we probably can make reservations using the national toll free
number, but I didn't do it. I will follow the procedure outlined
by the national if I go to the convention.
I think in view of recent behavior by the national in screening
some people out of blind-talk, I think we have a lot to be
suspicious about. Before I make my final decision to go or not, I
am waiting for word from President Maurer in response to a letter
I wrote him that there will be no attempt to sabotage our attempts
to go by perhaps making us pay rack rates whether or not we
register with the convention or something like that.
