In the beginning, W.E.C.O. was the mfg and installation arm of AT&T.
AT&T gave them and Bell Lab's the heave-ho a couple or so years ago.
The two companies opened up shop on NYSE as Lucent, starting out
at about $28/share. Monday of this week, Lucent closed at $124+;
with notice to split "When Issued." Yes indeed, WECO as we once
knew it, has truly been "supplanted" by the new and quite vigorus
Lucent.
I just hope between Lucent and 3COM products, we all continue to
benefit through cleaner and faster connections.
