Subject: 60 minutes
I recently showed the video of the "60 Minutes," segment on
accessibility which was broadcast on Sunday March 29th on C.B.S. In one of
the early portions of this segment when Tim Kranmer is showing his
"Say When," invention or thereabouts, Mr. Kranmer and Lesley
Stall are shown walking together with Lesley Stall holding his arm instead
of him holding her's. I am concerned that this gives millions of
viewers the idea that this is the correct method of guiding blind
persons. This scene is not apparent unless you have a sighted
person available to point it out which I had at the time. Can
anyone explain this and how it was allowed to happen? I'm sure
this is not the worst thing to ever happen on camera, but
wouldn't it have been just as easy to show how to correctly guide a
blind person as incorrectly?
