From: "Steve"
SemWare is pleased to announce the creation of our SemWare news server
(news.semware.com) which provides two newsgroups (semware.tsepro &
semware.tsejr) designed to better serve our customers.
The newsgroups are a forum in which users can post questions to support
staff and other users of SemWare products who utilize our news servers to
exchange information. We know many of you utilize the news servers and we
hope this will provide an optional support forum for your needs.
Newsgroups provide many benefits to customers. One benefit is that most
news clients support "threading". This allows the messages to be displayed
as responses to questions, etc. Another benefit is that you can choose to
"connect" to the Newsgroup at your convenience. Instead of having messages
just pop up in your e-mail system, you can choose a specific time to visit
the site and view the currently posted articles. Also, most news clients
support the ability to simply view the "subject" lines before taking the
time to actually download the article (or message) itself. This can save you
both time and storage space since you don't need to necessarily keep all the
messages around in order to reference previously posted articles.
In order to generate a base of interest we have populated the news groups
with existing tsepro and tsejr mailing list during the last year. This will
allows users to read many of the question and answer sessions which have
already taken place within the confines of the mailing list.
Note, however, that we currently do NOT have plans to cross-post new
messages from the mailing list to the news server or vice-versa. That is,
messages posted to the tsejr mailing list will not appear on the
semware.tsejr newsgroup. Nor will messages posted on the semware.tsejr
newsgroup be posted to the tsejr mailing list.
In order to utilize the SemWare news service you need a news client.
Simply specify the news server: 'news.semware.com' and connect anonymously.
(Web browsers like IE can automatically connect using the url
'news://news.semware.com'. To go directly to the tsepro newsgroup, for
example, specify 'news://news.semware.com/semware.tsepro')
Then just connect to news.semware.com and subscribe to the newsgroup(s) of
your choice (currently there's semware.tsepro and semware.tsejr)
(NOTE: We are NOT currently echoing these newsgroups.... you must currently
connect directly to news.semware.com at this time.)
Finally, we don't anticipate any problems but since this is the initial
roll-out we may experience unexpected problems. Please be patient as we
work out the kinks.
Thanks... and enjoy...

P.S. If you have any problems connecting, feel free to send e-mail to
tech.support@semware.com.
