The "standards", first, are "recommended standards".  Second, they contain 
optional and mandatory components.  Third, the second point leaves the door 
wide open to differing interpretations  when translating the "standard" from 
paper and ink to silicon.
Don't expect 100% interop and you won't be disappointed. :)
