-> What the HECK is going on down there?
It's a transient community in Florida with few of the
community ties we had up in the N.E.
Just yesterday a crackhead ( from Pennie's physical description)
tried to snatch her purse.
-> I've a cousin there that married a
-> detective. Maybe I should buy him some spare bullets? I'm on the
"Live and let
-> live" side, but sometimes you wonder if a smack on their head
would knock any
-> sense in, or loosen another screw.
Buy him a kevlar vest instead.
-> WC> I was walking my Pit Bull but refrained from using his attack
-> WC> command. I survived the bat attack and didn't want to risk
-> WC> losing the dog had I given him the command.
-> And then you'd have been charged with a deadly weapon. Mind you, he made the
-> first move. JIMINY! I complain about the proliferation of nuts up here, but at
-> least if someone gets stabbed, we still hear about it in the news. There's been
-> a real increase of incidences here, I suspect because of all the young
-> wana-bes. Everyone's a 'tough guy'.
Programmed into the primitive part of the brain, used to be a survival
plus but in today's modern society it's more of a problem,
Evolution works SLOW so we're stuck with this for quite a while.
-> How they sleep at night, is beyond me.
I've no idea.
-> -> WC> I got totally trashed by a guy named Eric ( near killed me)
-> -> Man... that's a tough situation! I trust reasoning with him
-> -> wasn't working?
-> WC> Not a chance.
-> WC> Well the girl WAS spared.
-> WC> I spent the next 16 hours throwing up from the concussion every
-> WC> 20 minutes, you could set your watch to it.
-> Cripes...
Yeah, I was using my watch to drink a glass of water just before the
next toss.
-> Most of my damage was self induced meetings with pavement, but we are
-> too familiar with the consequences. What is going to teach compassion to these
-> numskulls?
I think schools should teach projects requiring students working
together for a common goal early on as I suspect this would
not only make them a better fit for the job market
but more socialized as well.
-> I read on another echo that trust was assumed when they were growing
-> up. Today we have to distrust. Wouldn't it be nice if... This tag "Do unto
-> others before they undo you." perturbs me, but eyes on the back
of our heads
-> seems to be the new survival strategy.
Yeah, my home town's web page used to be hysterically funny for the
police logs they published.
Stuff like a duck acting strangely ( an actual example) but as time
went on more and more real crime has cropped up :-(
-> -> I never tried to "sue" a plastic insulator,
-> WC> What can I say, dyslexic here, I see what's in my mind what I
-> WC> intended to write not neccessarily WHAT I write.
-> I knew what you meant once I got into the sentence. I've somewhat a dichotomy
-> of keyboards I plug into this machine. This one - an MS 'Natural' - I almost
-> have to *slam* on for it to register, and the wireless - I have to breath on...
-> I get missing letters, or spurious ones all the time. Not to mention this
-> cocked off "home" position. Some of the spelling can be,
um... Interesting. <-;
I've two of those old heavy IBM keyboards here with the real
tactile keyswitch feedback.
You can drop them repeatedly and suffer no damage too.
-> WC> I trashed all my prized experiment tools, instruments and parts
-> WC> when last I moved five years ago as I can no longer sit at a
-> WC> table or bench to mess with the stuff.
-> Table or bench??? That's FUNNY. You should see all the solder holes in the bed
-> sheets! When I was using a water-bed, I made a point of keeping a tray under my
-> work, mind you, there wasn't a whole lot of experimenting/parts to keep track
-> of.
Yeah, I was like that having so much stuff on hand I could build most
anything with parts on hand.
-> {-;
-> -> Sweep/Marker I mentioned to Roy J. It's no wonder the tech at
the hospital
-> -> built one from kit, compared to purchasing one off the
-> -> shelf. Today, with all
-> -> the VLSI, it puts the *hobby* in a precarious position.
-> WC> MY VTVM was a Knight kit and still worked.
-> Vert. Trace/Marker?
Vacuum Tube Volt Meter, very high input impedence for little loading
effect.
-> -> [Without checking notes] Shared Secure Login?
-> WC> I'm using it but don'tknow what ssl stands for except one s is
-> WC> for secure.
-> Guess you don't *need* to know as long as it works.
Seems to work ;-)
-> -> what Heath used to produce. Usually it's just a flashing LED thingy.
-> WC> Yeah, just junk, JameCo sells this sort of stuff.
-> WC> www.amazing1.com has some interesting and dangerous stuff
-> WC> Some of it works and some is BS, I built several of their items
-> WC> from book schematics that worked.
-> WC> ..
-> That one rings a bell.
Where I got the svchematic for a very high voltage PS and a tiny FM
wireless mike out of a book they sold.
-> -> WC> Had Linux -Win 98 dual boot on this box but my flaky hard
-> -> WC> Quantum 6.4 Gig croaked.
-> I read about that. Is it for sure bitched? I went through the same argument
-> here - I think.
MBR was damaged and would no longer take a write, recovered several
times it finally just wouldn't take fdisk /MBR.
-> I had to delete the FAT partitioning a couple of times with
-> Linux's fdisk. But you aren't able to see it at all, right? You saw Pascal
-> mention the kernel buggery?
Yeah.
-> WC> I need a standard ATX box and PS... some day maybe.
-> My last three cases are convertible ATX/AT. I'd still need a PS though, if
-> I picked up an ATX only MB.
I've heard Antec spoken well of.
-> -> Truth is, it's more like, "You want it WHEN?"
-> WC> Yeah, know that feeling on fixed income.
-> WC> The Pit Bull costs me 70 bucks a month amortizing food, medical
-> WC> care, Frontline flea killer and Heart Guard.
-> They can be spectacular dogs!
Mine's black and white with a white blaze down the center of the top of
his head through the snout.
British Staffordshire Bull Terrier, one of the rarer of the three
Pit Bull breeds.
-> WC> Guy has NEVER screwed up worse than getting into the kitchen
-> WC> trash about 7 times over 13 years.
-> My last mutt was about the same. If I worked a 13 hour shift, I expected him to
-> let loose on the carpet, but he kept his messes to one location in the
-> basement. After one of those 13 hour shifts, I did come home to find him
-> comfortably nested in a feather down quilt, with a good portion of the feathers
-> on the outside of the quilt. My fault for not 'kennelling' him though. He
-> always had the run of the house.
Spanky's never let loose in the house, sick a few times
but that's happened to me as well.
-> WC> Not at all like the horror stories you hear about the breed.
-> One acquaintance had the son of a pit champ. First meeting I was a little
-> tenuous about, but we made such fast friends, that his owner got jealous.
-> Proved to me, that it's not the bread, it's the owner. O-8
Yeah like that idiot skinhead Jimmy Nation up the street and his killer
Pit that tried to eat my dog then my hand when I got Spanky free.
Spanky was a mess after that but he acted like nothing happened at all.
No visable reaction to the attack period, strange.
-> ... Multi-tasking: Crashing both hard drives at the same time.
That's not funny!
