Only if you read the Rockwell press releases by themselves. If you followed
the earlier discussions such as the comments from Intel's engineers about the
marked similarities between the two protocols and comments from other
industry sources, it would appear that Rockwell was claiming a design win for
items that were essentially identical between x2 and K56Flex. On the
relatively few items that were significantly different, V.90 seems to be
about equally split between new (and, hopefully, improved best of both)
implementations, adopting the K56Flex implementation and adopting the x2
implementation.
Rockwell isn't alone either. Some of the 3Com press releases were about as
bad in claiming credit for common items.
