As they say, you have your opinion, I have mine to which we are
both entitled. I believe the consensus of the convention was
clearly "no," but no matter what the convention said, Dr.
Jernigan was committed to returning to Dallas in 1993 anyway or
he would not have been in the middle of negotiations to return
there as he told us he was. He barely got that sentence out when
the chorus of "No's," started. So he opened that door and as
such should have abided by the convention's wishes or not opened
that door in the first place. I would not be surprised if he
rather than being in the midst of negotiations had already signed
the deal to return. As I said, we were going back there whether
the convention wanted to or not. And as long as the membership
keeps putting up with this kind of thing our leaders are going to
keep doing it. I think it is time for the membership to reclaim
some of its power.
