One thing to try.. If you're logging onto a Unix/Linux system, try setting 
he
terminal emulation to VT100/VT102 on both the system and your telcomm 
rogram.
The Portland library near where I live has a public-access system called 
yna,
and although they support ANSI too, it's all jumbled, but VT100 has worked 
fine on all web pages with Lynx.
