They also have one big disadvantage: the parallel port does not carry a FIFO,
meaning that it will generate up to sixteen times more interrupts at a given
data rate when compared to a serial modem on a 16550.
Perhaps he thinks a parallel port modem will take init strings without an
'at' prefix, or something...
