ST> For one; If Red was around then we can be sure that everyone else
ST> probably survived too.
Well, how do you know that? All the humans could have been destroyed
and Red XIII survived because he wasn't human.
ST> Two; If Meteor did destroy all humanity then that mean's that Aerith's
ST> Holy spell, her death, and all of the spirits of the Earth that came to
ST> her call was in vain.
Not Meteor. Meteor didn't even touch the planet. Holy would destroy
everything that was bad for the planet. Meteor was stopped and humans were
wiped out because they caused more damage to the planet than not. (my
opinion)
ST> Three; there was also the sound of human children laughter in that
nding
ST> with Red's decendants.
That could e the sound of the deseased (spelled right?) children that
was at Kalm and around the world.
ST> Four; It was lamented and remarked in the game by the main characters
ST> that the world should not rely on Mako energy, so the abandonment of
ST> Midgar was probably testiment to humanity's return to relying on more
ST> Earth-friendly energy resources.
I agree with the part that the world should not rely on Mako. But
humans did and was draining the planet and Holy took them away because of
this and other reasons.
ST> Five; the full impact of Meteor was necessary to destroy the Earth. The
ST> fact that it was heavily damaged on two instances removed the threat of
ST> total destruction of the human race.
It was heavily damaged but it could still destroy a big pat of the
earth. Holy destroyed the human race, not Meteor.
ST> Six; the planet wanted the human race to prove itself. I think that
ST> Cloud and Aerith did that beyond any doubt. If not then the planet
ST> would not have responded.
I beleive that the Planet thought that the human race was bad because
it was draining the life force. Just because a small group wanted to stop
it, that doesn't mean the whole human race wanted to.
ST> But my main belief comes with Aerith herself, and the fact that she
ST> materialized at the last moment, along with the spirits of all who
ST> had gone before, and what they did to Meteor is what saved the world.
I don't think that she materialized. I think she was seen by Cloud.
Cloud saw her in his mind.
ST> If Meteor *had* struck then there wouldn't have even *been* a Midgar
ST> that we saw abandoned. That, and I prefer to think that all of the
ST> work that we did in the game didn't go for naught. :)
True, if meteor did hit, Midgar wouldn't be there. I think you
miss-understood me. I think that Meteor didn't hit and that Holy got rid of
it. Holy also took out the human race because they did more against the
planet than for. Only animals survived and Midgar was... Well, You saw it.
And why is it that they never showed any human 500 years later? They
showed Red's race and some seagulls. The children's laughter was an echo
from the past. Or it could be their spirits floating in the life stream.
All the above is what I believed happened. I'm not really arguing.
Let's keep the dispute up. I want to know what really happened. You're the
only one I know who has a different opinion about the end.
