Terry May was thrown for a loss after he said:
TM> So do I. Not because he pitched for the Dodgers, but because he's a bad
TM> announcer with a worse 'do.
He's not great, however, he IS better than some guys on other teams (Not by
much).
TM> My take is there are TOO MANY people in the HOF, and it should be
TM> reserved for truly special players. And if it takes you more than one
TM> try to get in, you probably shouldn't be in there.
If that's the case then the HOF should be reserved for 9 players, 1 manager
and 1 owner. Truthfully, I think that there a still plenty of worthy
candidates left, especially when you consider the talent that hasn't been
born yet.
TM> Why are you so down on Smoltz? He's had much better numbers than
TM> Neagle, and has been their best postseason pitcher.
His numbers aren't as good as you think. Neagle hasn't been a starter for
nearly as long (Part of Leyland's philosophy of using young players as
relievers first) and in the time that he has been starting, his numbers are
as good as Smoltz (Plus, he's using his full talents. John's wasted his over
the years. There should have been a lot more 24-8 seasons in his past instead
of just ONE good season).
