I remember a long time ago when Boris Spasky played against the 
American guy (I can't remember his name) for the World Chess 
Championship and watched it on TV!!  There was a guy that, I guess, 
would be called the play-by-play announcer.  He would analyze a move 
and show if a particular piece became vulnerable or if it strengthened 
his position.  Then he would speculate on possible counter moves by the 
opposition. 
 
It was incredibly boring.
