Hi again,
I tried changing the display driver.  No effect.  I tried changing the
resolution.  No effect.  I tried moving to someone else's machine.  No
effect.  Then I thought maybe its somehow related to the bios so I tried it
on another type of machine.  Yup.  Its machine related.  We're using
Compaq Prolinea's and I got it to work on a Toshiba laptop.  
Here is how I got the Toshiba to have the same problem.
Go to the DOS prompt.
change the font to 10 x 20
Execute: Mode con lines=50
Try executing the demo program again three or four times.
Yup, she's busted.
Hope this helps.  Anyone else seeing what I'm seeing?
