I have an 80 Ford F-150 with a 79 driveline (351M, C-6 auto).. last night, it
just refused to move forward for several minutes. It would go into reverse
fine, but no forward gears. I added fluid since it was a little low, but
still wouldn't move for awhile. It finally went in to drive when the engine
was fully warmed up (temp guage hit the Normal area). The truck has 141k
miles on it, and the tranny's never given me trouble before. Changed the
fluid and filter about 10k miles ago. I haven't driven the truck since this
happened, but I'm going to try changing the fluid/filter again today if it
keeps this up..
Any ideas what this is? I replaced the modulator last summer (engine was
getting a not-so-healthy drink of ATF). It drove great once it finally went
in to gear. It sometimes does something similar on cold mornings, but
it'll creep forward, then go into gear when I rev it up (I tried revving it
several times to 2500 last night, no go, no creep). Is it just time to get
it rebuilt?
Thanks.

-> No, what you need is 3/4-inch O.D. copper water pipes for your
-> stereo cables, but get lots of them and be sure to place them in
-> parallel so that you minimize the inductance.
And make sure they are twisted to cancel out any Cross Talk to. Keeping
them appropriately separated of course. :-)
-> PH> Incidentaly there has been some noteable research into the
-> use of
-> PH> various speaker cables and the resultant measured effect on
-> distor
-> PH> tion, etc. I remain to be convinced, however there appears
-> to some
-> PH> justification, however small that may be.
-> I'm not surprised that modern instruments can detect distortion, but
-> can the human ear really detect such distortion?
This point has been debated endlessly over the years in Audio and
Stereo magazines. Julian Hurst(sp??) a Very Prominent Audio Engineer
and his lab Hurst-Hauck(sp??) did extensive testing of those various
claims and found them NOT based in Scientific Fact. All things equal a
Copper conductor of a particular construction, Stranded or Solid,
Virgin or Not, and equilivent size is a Copper conductor, PERIOD. The
electrons go from one end to the other in exactly the same manner
with NO improvement or degradation of the signal.
