While I'm happy for my friend Mike, a Detroit Lions' fan, I KNOW that they
didn't deserve that game. This is just another example why instant replay
needs to be returned.

Man, I'm thinking that New York drives down the field and scores a TD with
about 25 seconds left and Detroit takes the field trailing and Barry Sanders
needing 2 yards. What a way to fall short, right? Then when they get the ball
back and he gets his 2 yards; all I can think is that he pulls a Dave Hampton
and lose the yardage that got him over 2000 (Hampton, who played with the
Falcons, gained exactly 1000 yards and they gave him the game ball. On his
next carry he lost 5 yards and finished with 995 yards. That).

I know that Boomer was disappointed about leaving Cincy the first time,
however, he does look like a healthy QB this time around. Whether he wants to
admit that his arm was dead or not, it was obvious when he was sent to New
York that he was throwing nothing but softballs.

Scoring was supposed to be up significantly and the NBA was going to be just
fine. Yeah, sure. Ok, Cleveland ISN'T the worst scoring team this year, it's
the 4th worst and they're still as dull as last year (Before you roast me
about this, they were just as good in the early going last year and their
fans considered them a mortal lock for the playoffs and then their schedule
caught up with them and they faded like cheap jeans). Scoring is up
marginally this year and shooting is worse in all areas. Unlike last year,
there are no real *new* rules to worry about. Players aren't adjusting to the
palming rules like last year and traveling calls aren't killing momentum like
they did early in the season.

4 catches and a punt return average .7 yards less than Tim Brown had last
year earns Dismal Howard the *most disappointing free agent award*, just
barely ahead of team mate Jeff George.

Hey Dave. Boston 12 wins down, 28 to go...:-)

NBA coach of the year? Early candidates are Rick Pitino and Brian Hill.

ESPN talked about the bad teams in the NBA and I really disagree with them.
Toronto's better than their record but like the Celtics last year, have been
derailed by injuries. Denver is young and inexperienced. They'll get better
as the year goes on and they've got a bright future. They're not a stepping
stone like the Warriors were when they had Sprewell (Funny but the Warriors
are BETTER without Sprewell). They're playing their hearts out but coming up
short. That's not a bad team but a team with a bad record.

Have a merry Xmas. This may not get to you until then so I'll cover bases
now.:-)
