The 49ers traded Terry May to the Jets for saying:
TM> I don't quite follow you. The Chiefs beat both teams twice, so what
TM> difference does it make who wins?
The opponents' percentage is a compilation of w-l records. So if, for
example, Seattle is 8-5 and Oakland is 4-9 (not counting a game against KC),
KC's opponents' percentage for just those teams would be .462. If Seattle
beats Oakland then their record goes to 9-5 and Oakland's goes to 4-10 and
KC's percentage would be .464. It doesn't make a difference WHO wins but
merely playing each other LOWERS KC's percentage. When an out of division
team wins, it's MORE beneficial to the Chiefs than a game inside the
vision.
