-> WC> Yeah, once they burn a rock they're looking for the next one.

-> So I've heard. I've tried it, but never found the same to be true.

Maybe you got immitation and were lucky.

Girl I was in love with was hooked on the stuff
So I gave it a 5 day trial to see if I gained any useful
insight.
Hated the stuff and yet found myself at the front door
going to get more a dozen times or more in just over
a week.

Never actually stepped outside the door so beat it
cold turkey.
Nasty stuff.
Took about two weeks for cravings to stop, word has it takes
8 months for an addict dedicating to getting off it to be in the clear.

-> -> -> WC> Vacuum Tube Volt Meter, very high input impedence for
little
->  ->  ->  WC> loading effect.
->  ->
-> -> -> I suspect a Kipp & Zonen here might be the same. How
->  ->...
-> -> it'd use 'em. Someone suggested there were inductors to influence a
->  -> pendulum-mirror arrangement. I should tear into it.

-> This machine works by 15V DC alone. It's a sealed PS, like a laptop. Not a wall
-> wart, but a middle-of-the-cord wart. One summer day, the machine started
-> spontaneously rebooting, then it didn't come up at all. I think the PS found
-> its way under a sofa cushion, and overheated.

I'd like to upgrade the SFX power supply here to a stiff ATX,
Guess there's only a single wire difference in the lack of SFX -12 volt
rail.

Then I could then fearlessly load up this H.P. with two hard drives
and a CD-ROM writer.

-> -> ...But, back EMF from a transformer? You must have drained the
caps on the
-> -> other side while it was idle.

-> WC> No, I broke the power connection and got the kick.
-> WC> Very simple system of externally would center tapped coil on
-> WC> a salvaged color T.V. flyback driven by push - pull oscillator
-> WC> and some hefty transitors.

-> That was the ground-centre tap you touched then.

Ground on the the base of the flyback trnasformer
and oscilator 11 amp supply driving the external coil.

Shock was quite severe and I recall an extremely pure blue
lighting bolt like flash directly in my brain
that bypassed my eyesight.
It was then that I disassembled the infernal device.

->  ->  ->  WC> I've heard Antec  spoken well of.
->  ->
-> -> Oh... They assemble systems. I've heard of them. I was
-> -> thinking they made the
-> -> MB. I'll likely go the kit route, and purchase a PS
separately, or sell the
-> -> case as surplus if that is how it is packaged.

www.pricewatch.com
offers up some interesting bare bones systems
with a variety of non-proprietary name brand Motherboards.
Asus, Abit, Gigabyte, ect.

->  WC> I didn't know they made systems.

-> Back up one step. They do then make the MBs? I thought I heard them spoken of
-> regarding their systems assembly. By your explanation, I gathered with the
-> fanless CPU heatsink, and 450W PS...

You can purchase ANTEC cases with and without PS at www.compusa.co,
nut that sourvce is pricey.

-> WC> The dog's happier and he only seeks to please which makes his
-> WC> behavior rather easy to live with.

->  -> Betadine is a product name?

-> WC> Think Iodine without the ouch factor.
-> WC> It's also swabbed onto the site of surgeries to sterilize.

-> Figured as much. My Spaniel-Terrier had a busted tenon when he chased a shepard
-> pup, and the pup stopped running. When he put the brakes on so hard, the
-> passenger side-rear line let go.

Heard that's painful andpainful to treat as well.

-> -> WC> I'm eating a very spartan diet so as to save up for a
new drive and

-> -> Oh... have I been there! Until my mortgage was paid, and
->  -> for the get in-out the
-> -> kitchen factor, I can't tell you how many meals of pasta
->  -> and canned beans I've
-> -> eaten. Now that I can get to the stove a little bit
->  -> longer, I've been able to
->  -> vary the diet a little.

-> WC> I eat a lot of rehydrated beans, rice, fried peas, carrots
-> prepared in a
-> WC> pressure cooker with a bit of sausage and soy sauce for flavor.
-> WC> Nariety I don't get much of due to the carry weight travel
->  WC> factor.

-> That's right. You're on the bus! It sounds like you're eating well enough
-> though. Simple prep too, no less.

That's a big deal too, if it can't be prepared fast in either
the pressure cooker or the iron skillet it doesn't get prepared.
Standing up isn't too fun there last few years.
Not weight releated just spinal damage.

-> The stories of those Viat-cong living for a
-> week on one handful of beans, and rice usually puts Westerners minds into
-> disbelief. They'd eat them undercooked, and drink water through the day to
-> re-hydrate their stomach content.

-> On withdrawal, I fasted for ten days out of necessity, and I knew it wouldn't
-> do my detox any harm if I did it right. When I could get up again, I started
-> out with fresh fruit, teas, then rice and peas mostly. Onion sure helped the
-> cause too.

-> -> hope to see some of that government $ back. Daddy needs new shoes! ;-)

-> WC> Just got two pair myself.

-> I try to visit the Sally-Ann whenever I can, but there doesn't seem to be much
-> there lately. My current work-boots and walking shoes were from dumpster dives.
-> Those were the days.

Bet I'm harder to fit than you, size 15's

-> -> WC> I've a hardware modem, hardware sound card and have researched
->  ->  WC> Linux printers.
-> -> WC> Though they require drivers Lexmark is mentioned as having
->  ->  WC> support from their manufacturer.

-> I'll bet they are just happy to support *any* non-Windows user alive.

-> -> ...Which is a wholly owned subsidiary of IBM, if I read

-> WC> My Canon lasted 13 years on just the three cartridges.
-> WC> I refilled them over and over again. Occassionally clogged
-> WC> I'd set the head on some lint free warm damp cloth or paper
->  WC> to clear them.

-> That's a good plan. I too was refilling the two Canons I have here. I think
-> they are about nine YO. One seems to be shutting down, but the other was still
-> OK last time I ran it.

-> -> third party manufacturer. No wonder why I got them so cheep.

->  WC> Saw a B&W LASER printer somewhere for 200 new.

-> Wa? Must be a "Win-printer". Everything on a consumer grade
level just seems to
-> be built to last through the warranty.

->  -> Sure glad we have a free recycling program here! [-|{

-> WC> This machine is a recycle from an aggrevated owner who tossed

-> Ya... I've so many un-garbaged machines, it's time to replenish the earth with

Since the economy took a dive I'm not seeing them tossed anymore :-(
Last catches were a 19 inch CRT monitor with nothing wrong and
dirt simple onscreen setup
Another 17 inch Compaq CRT has one of the most PITA interative on screen
setup arrangement I've ever seen.
It's setup pretty well but needs tweaking.
