Sure. First of all, download POINTINT.ZIP, if you haven't already.
KL> - does a point have to call you board daily?
No. You can call once a month if you want to. It basically depends on how
much mail you get and how often you poll. I am mainly concerned with how
large your waiting mail bundle is. So long as that stays down around the
0.5 to 1 meg mark (compressed mail), then you can call whenever you want.
So for example if you were only receiving the "LOTUS" conference,
then I would expect you to call at least once every 570 years. However, if
you are picking up a few Windows and OS/2 echos, then you are probably
looking at picking mail up every couple of days.
KL> - what obligations does a point have?
The same that a normal user has, basically "none", or at least it
depends on the conference moderator. The only thing I am bound to is
POLICY4 (available from this board). Since I am bound to it, so are you.
KL> - what software does one need?
Depends on your platform. POINTINT.ZIP will guide you through that. If it
doesn't, let me know and I'll amend the doco.
KL> - when a point picks up mail and FREQs stuff from you,
KL> is 10 minutes still the time limit?
When you pick up mail it is unlimited. Therefore it is governed by what
you and I can agree on as a reasonable mail packet size. At the moment,
the board is mostly unused, so there is no restrictions. It is likely to
stay that way for quite a while (like maybe a year).
FREQs do have a limit on them though. The limit changes, but is always at
least 10 minutes. From memory, current restrictions are 20 minutes for
anyone my system doesn't have a password-protected session with, and 30
minutes for passworded sessions. BFN.
