SD> JG> I own a black '91 F-150, the paint is oxidized and even cracking in
SD> JG> small circles on the hood...I've been told about a new (to me anyway)
SD> JG> product on the market called Touchless, has anyone had any experience
SD> JG> with this? Is there any kind of terrible long-term after effects I
SD> JG> need to know about?
SD>Touchless won't do anything for cracked paint. FWIW, I used it on my 1980
SD>F-150 (very very minor oxidation) and it made it look worse, if anything.
I
SD>used it on my dad's old 83 Olds Delta 88 (brown), which was faded and
SD>oxidized so bad the hook looked white, and it did a wonderful job. Only
SD>after effects I've noticed is it really dries up your hands.
I used it on our family van.. a '84 Dodge. It totally ruined it.
There is a filmy buildup on it that looks very ugly like it has a coat
of oxidation on it. At first it looked good, but after a little while,
it looks just as bad now as before I put it on. Yeah, it does dry up
your hands, and it is also very sticky, and the applier can get to be a
very sticky dust/anything attractor. Just to warn you, from my personal
experience, it doesn't work very well, and I don't think it should
matter if you try it. It's SUPPOSED to come off afterwards with a
little bug/Tar remover. I havn't tried. And also, it's not quite as
easy to apply as they make it look on comercials or on the box. It is
quite sticky and hard to control after it begins to dry, and if any dust
gets on it while it's still wet, you can bet it will be there afterwards
as well. Anyways, that's just my experience. You can try it if you
like. I don't think it would hurt anything.
