This will be my last post for a couple of weeks. I get to go on an
actual vacation, on an actual beach! See you all again soon...
MISC - Lucci's out, Days of Our Lives may be back on the board, and a
resident witch could bring home the gold. Things have changed for
this year's 30th annual Daytime Emmys. Under the Academy's new
guidelines, voters cast their ballots for their favorite
performances of 2002 on their shows only. Veteran actress Juliet
Mills (Tabitha, Passions) along with 117 other actors, earned the
highest votes to make the first round towards the prized Emmy
podium. They will submit a 30-minute tape to a panel of
non-partisan judges who will select the five names per acting
category that will appear on the official nominee ballot.
Some familiar faces are back in the running, like Emmy
winner Julia Barr (Brooke, AMC), who is in the pre-nom category
for Outstanding Lead Actress, along with castmate, Emmy winner
and last year's Emmy nominee Finola Hughes (Anna). "I am pleased
and more than flattered at the genuine show of support from my
All My Children colleagues," Barr tells TV Guide Online. Proving
that star power shines, even when you're off the canvas, last
year's Emmy winner and nominee Josh Duhamel (ex-Leo) and Cameron
Mathison (ex-Ryan) respectively, snagged the two AMC spots in the
Outstanding Supporting Actor category.
Actors who have never seen Emmy light, like The Young and
the Restless vet Doug Davidson (Paul) are finally having their
shot at the golden statue. "It really means the most because it
came from the people you work with, people who see you day in and
out, good days and bad." Even at the precursory stage, Davidson
is humble to accept any accolades just for himself. "I wish the
[Emmy Awards] weren't so point-on specific," he shares. "It's
such a team effort to put the show together--from the writing and
directing to the other actors."
The Bold and the Beautiful's Sean Kanan (Deacon), who
many felt was snubbed in last year's process, may get that chance
to be a nominee for Outstanding Supporting Actor. "He's
ecstatic," declares Kanan's rep. "He's worked hard for this, and
he lit up like a Christmas tree when he heard."
The official nominees will be announced live on The View
on March 12.
DOOL - Hope will start to take one of the pills. Larry will be
lurking nearby. He will sneak into the house and switch the
pills. After a face-to-face encounter with Larry's "ghost", Hope
will pop the pills thinking she doesn't need them. But Shawn
will pick them up and take one.
- Bo will catch a clue that Larry is still alive. Bo will drive
Larry into the sewers. Larry's next move is to turn Bo and
Hope's house into a death trap, via broken pipes.
- Kate will confide to Roman that her relationship to Stefano
was not criminal.
- Word is out that Kevin Spiritis and Patrica Darbo will be
leaving their roles as Craig and Nancy come Springtime. Nadia
Bjorland has decided not to continue her role as Chloe. She will
leave late in Spring.
- Bryan Datillo (Lucas) has become a contract player on Days.
