Dave, it started with the writers and players and this has been going on for
a lot longer than you might think. I have a quote that I like to trot out
every once in a while that talks about *modern* players and the kicker is
that it was written in the 1910s and the guy played before the turn of the
century. What fans say are nothing more than opening their mouths to lip
synch the words put into them by the press and the players.
