I am trying to find info on John Calhoun Mosley, born Dec 29, 1823,
possibly near Macon, GA. He married Rebecca A. Walker, date and
place unknown. John's parents are unknown, but it is believed that
that originally came from South Carolina. They died when John was
a youth and he was raised by an uncle, name unkown, on a farm in
the Macon area. John and Rebecca's first born was William Joseph
Mosley. He was born on Jan 21, 1848 near Newnan, GA. John and
Rebecca had several other children after William. In 1869, the
family moved to southern Arkansas, and two years later moved to a
farm near Paris, Arkansas, which became the final home. I am
particularly interested in John's parents and ancestors, as he is
my great, great, grandfather. Any info would be appreciated. My
E-mail address is "Jim.Mosley@f310.n387.z1.fidonet.org", quotes
omited. My snail mail is 6802 Ludgate, San Antonio, TX 78239.

To Dick Hoyt, re. : Litchfield / Northern Neck .
Dick, Ouch. I have a problem. My eyes?, my fingers?, my computer? (yes?)
my files? (yes!). FIDO? (never!). Anyway I have two interesting files, both
copied from FIDO and renamed, the first is called LITCHFIE.CK, and another
is NORTH_VA.CK. Both are from(?) you!
The first (abbreviated) reads:
> Area # 70 GENEALOGY ; 10-01-97 06:32 ; Message # 5004; From : Dick Hoyt;
> To : All ; Subj : LITCHFIELD CT 1720-1800;
> I have a book printed in 1845 that lists all the residents of the town of
> Litchfield CT from 1720 to 1820. I will check the index for any name you
> think might have lived there during that time.
> Connection - Farmington, AR - (1:391/1500)
So assuming the above was correct, I sent a query on Litchfield to Dick.
Now, who sent the originial??? Help, you out there I still need a check
on two names in Litchfield.
I only sent one message out, assuming my Litchfield query was the most
urgent one. Dick, I was planning on sending you another in a week or so and
asking about any HALL or DEDHAM/DENHAM s in your Northern Neck Books. (No,
my HALL did not go to TX, as my COLEMANs did!)
Speaking of HALL, did you ever receive the following?
"(1) Calvin HALL mar. Susan SLAUGHTER, 5 Jan 1871, San Augustine Co. TX. .
(2) Calcin(sic) HALL, m. Susan SLAUGHTER, 10 Jan 1871, San Augustine, TX. .
The first is probably their application for a license, and the second is .
either the marriage date or date of recording."
