Well, you don't have to learn morse code for a technition class license. You do have to learn it at 5WPM for a General or Extra Class license. A General License will give you privliges on the HF bands (Below 30MHZ). SSB = Single Side Band - USB & LSB is Upper and Lower Sideband respectively. The Upper and Lower Audio driven portion of an AM (Amplitude Modulation) Carrier. CW = Continuous Wave or Morse Code.
