BH> speaking of my board. would it be wrong to do a shameless plug now? ok BH> Lucid Dreams BBS Actually I still have regular callers. They help post. But that's just a small part. When the entire globe isn't posting then that adds up. Dialup or Telnet wouldn't make a difference at all. Heh. I said the same thing 2 years ago. I'd never give up and such. But I never believe in a never say never thing. Just like I say I'll never come back since I can't guarentee it. But I doubt it. The BBS is still going strong and in its glory but the globe and community at large is declining. When echos that used to get 500 or 1000 a day get 5 a day if THAt if not a week then maybe its time for something else. Games and files have always been secondary to me. As to community the bulk of friends I've made I can chat with live in ICQ and such which I do. So I still have community. I came to this decision scientifically since that's the way I think. I wrote some programs to assess mail traffic in fido and other networks over the last full year (well 8 months). It clearly showed a decline compared to just 3 years ago. In some places I was talking to myself doing 66^ 66% of the traffic. Other places only 2 others were talking. In other places posting was down as much as 233%. So no. Its time to move on. If a surge comes who knows I could return but I can still post without having a bbs. I've got ton of other projects going on to keep me busy and my BBS life was slowing down as it was. I'm just being realistic that's all. Better to get out on topthan leave the last one :). I'm still the most active rpg and programming board on the globe so at least I can go out with that kudo :) --- Fringe BBS* Origin: The Fringe BBS - Only the best >TG< - 904-733-1721 (1:112/91) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 112/91 123/500 379/1 633/267 |
